An unconventional and unlikely heroine, this 19-year-old activist rallied the U.S. Democratic Party and Gen Z in Texas and beyond. She harnessed moments of hate (e.g., being publicly shamed on Twitter by Republican congressmen) to raise awareness and funds for some of her generation's most important issues: abortion and women's rights.
As a member of the LGBTQIA+, disabled, feminist, Latinx and Texas communities, Olivia embodies the immense diversity of Generation Z. Her confident, authentic, and uplifting attitude welcomes and empowers others to feel like they belong while holding elected officials accountable.
Her fight against injustices is done through her strategic mastery of social media channels to reinforce the core identities and values of her legion of supporters.
A self-made political strategist, Olivia is the founder of Gen Z for Change, a youth-led nonprofit organization using social media to raise awareness, fundraise, and engage politicians and celebrities on key issues. She also takes time to reply to community members, regardless of the sentiment, to ensure they are being heard and seen.
In an increasingly polarized state, she compels people to act and rally around groups she supports through her reliable, research-rich and personal content. She's been using the attention from her social media statements to catapult voter registration and fundraise for organizations that help people get access to healthcare.
Julianna took on congressman Matt Gaetz and turned his body-shaming and misogynistic attacks into more than $2 million in donations, which were split into 50 different abortion funds across the country. This powerful movement has inspired copycat fundraisers and motivated community members to support non-profit organizations (such as Planned Parenthood) that direct funds to social causes.
